Hello!
I’ve changed newsletter providers from MailerLite to Substack. In case you see this and not know why you’re receiving it, the newsletter mailing lists you’d signed up for previously transferred over here, so no more MailerLite; it’s Substack instead, and all the same grand content.
I’m going to keep my newsletters lighter in amount of information, since I found myself before spending a full day on documenting out everything I’ve been doing. I think it’s funner/better just to send out briefs, which in turn may keep me motivated to be more consistent with my mailings, ideally once a month.
Anyway, as a reminder for more on me:
Here’s my author’s site:

Here’s my indie press (Dark Moon Books):

As always if you (dear subscriber) have any comments or feedback, or otherwise just wish to say hi, please do so. I’m at: eric.guignard@gmail.com. Thanks for subscribing!
Now onto the newsletter!
News From the Writing Hustle; or, What I’ve Been Doing of Late
Last week, I attended Loscon 51 (presented by The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society). It was a three-day convention, and I spoke on five panels, and sold books. Super fun!
While there, I got to meet author Ursula Vernon (T. Kingfisher) after having just read her Hugo-award-winning novel NETTLE & BONE! Absolutely cannot wait to read WOLF WORM when it releases in early 2026.
My latest short story release is in the anthology Space Horrors: An Anthology of Horror Science Fiction Stories, edited by E.S. Magill.
And another very fun release for me is a flash fiction anthology that has not only my own story inclusion, but also my daughter’s in her first publication credit!
Darkness 102: Advanced Lessons Were Learned
Here she is, signing an autograph for her adoring fans:
I’m still promoting, and getting wonderful reviews, for my latest fiction collection, A GRAVESIDE GALLERY (published through Cemetery Dance):
“This author is a pro at creating a world in a short period of time that grips you completely.”
WHAT I’M WORKING ON NOW
For the past few months, I’ve been working on a Weird Western Vampire novel, set in 1875 San Diego, tentatively called Three Days Until Dawn.
I’m about halfway through the first draft (which is further along than it sounds, as I edit and revise as I write)!
As editor and publisher, I’m also finishing prep for final files for the release of +Horror Library+ Volume 9, anthology coming February, 2026!
More on that here: https://www.darkmoonbooks.com/Horror_Library_9.html
WHAT I’M READING . . .
Book I’m reading now: West of Sunset by Stewart O’Nan
What my 17-year-old son is reading now: The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
What my 11-year-old daughter is reading now: The Sea of Monsters (Book #2 in the Percy Jackson, Camp Half-Blood Chronicles series) by Rick Riordan
AND, because I love listening to music while I write, here’s what I’m listening to now: “Untitled Visions” (2023) by Monophonics & Kendra Morris. Listen here:
Fantasy Miniature of the Month
Okay, confession time:
I’m a nerd for painting RPG Fantasy miniatures. I mean, full-on, life-long obsession. I don’t play RPG (although I “am” a former D&D Half Dark-Elf), but I LOVE painting and modelling figures at approximate 28mm scale. So, thought it’d be fun to post up a pic each month.
“Oh no, here come a squad of Goblin Wolf Riders to pillage and plunder!”
Thanks for reading all this and (hopefully) for your interest and/or support of any of my projects!
Please remember to leave a book review on Amazon.com for anything of mine (or any other author) that you’ve read and enjoyed. It’s a dreadful commentary that the worth of indie authors is measured by online 5-star reviews, but such is the state of current commerce.
Midnight cheers,
Eric
